Poeta, cronista y artista visual chilena nacida en 1946, Carmen Berenguer dio a conocer su trabajo creativo al incio de la década de los 80, en plena dictadura militar. Ganadora del Premio Iberoamericano de poesía Pablo Neruda (2008), esta autora inicia su trayectoria con la publicación de su poemario: Bobby Sands desfallece en el muro (1983), la piedra angular de un proyecto poético marcado por un profundo compromiso social, una voz que opina, crítica y reflexiona sobre el lenguaje y las vicisitudes de la vida.

Es una artista valiente y sugerente que instala temáticas diversas, siempre marcadas por su potente ser mujer, la academia la sitúa en un movimiento de postvanguardia de la escena de avanzada, en la que junto a escritores como Diamela Elit, Raúl Zurita y Diego Maquieira construyen una propuesta literaria que vive y representa el margen, donde pueden moverse más libremente que en la ciudad tomada por el gris.

 En 1986 Berenguer publicó Huellas de siglo, seguido de A media asta en 1988 y Sayal de pieles  en 1993; en 1997 obtuvo la célebre Beca Guggenheim de la que surgió Naciste pintada (1999). Insigne performista, se destaca su colaboración con las Yeguas del apocalipsis y sus montajes teatrales con Carolina Jerez. En el 2006 publicó Mama Marx y en el 2008 La casa de la poesía, ese mismo año recibe el Premio Iberoamericano de Poesía Pablo Neruda, convirtiéndose en la primera persona chilena en recibir tal galardón.

Chilean poet, chronicler and visual artist born in 1946, Carmen Berenguer made her creative work known at the beginning of the 1980s, in the midst of the military dictatorship. Winner of the Pablo Neruda Ibero-American Poetry Prize (2008), she begins her career with the publication of Bobby Sands desfallece en el muro (1983), the cornerstone of a poetic project marked by a deep social commitment, a voice who thinks, criticizes and reflects on language and the vicissitudes of life.

She is a brave and suggestive artist who installs diverse themes, always marked by her powerful woman being, the academy places her in a post-avant-garde movement of the advanced scene, with writers such as Diamela Elit, Raúl Zurita and Diego Maquieira, together they built a literary proposal that lives and represents the margin, where they can move more freely than in the city taken over by the gray.

In 1986 Berenguer published Huellas de siglo , followed by A media asta in 1988 and Sayal de pieles in 1993; in 1997 she obtained the famous Guggenheim Fellowship from which Naciste pintada (1999) emerged. An outstanding performer, her collaboration with the Yeguas del apocalypse and her theatrical productions with Carolina Jerez stand out. In 2006 she published Mama Marx and in 2008 La casa de la poesía, that same year she received the Pablo Neruda Ibero-American Poetry Prize, becoming the first Chilean person to receive such an award.
